In Matthew 7:7–11, Jesus invites us to keep asking, seeking, and knocking—not just once, but over and over. Why? Because prayer is more than a quick transaction; it’s an ongoing relationship with a loving Father.
Jesus compares our heavenly Father to earthly parents, reminding us that if flawed humans can give good gifts, how much more will a perfect God offer what we truly need? He doesn’t promise instant results or say prayer is simple; He just assures us that God listens and responds.
This doesn’t mean we’ll get everything on our wish list. Sometimes God answers differently than we expect. But trust grows in the waiting. Real prayer goes beyond material wants—though God cares about those too—and touches our deepest longings for peace, wisdom, and connection.
So, if you feel tempted to quit praying when life stays messy, remember Jesus’ words: keep on. Keep talking to God. Keep looking for His presence. Keep knocking on the door that only He can open. Even in the silence or the struggle, God’s promise stands: He is good and He will give good gifts to those who ask.
