Daily Meditation: Finding God in Life’s Unfinished Stories

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” – Revelation 22:13

We all carry unfinished stories in our hearts. Perhaps yours is a relationship that never found closure, a dream still waiting to bloom, or a question that lingers unanswered. In these moments of incompleteness, we’re invited to pause and reflect on a profound truth: Jesus meets us not just at the beginning and end, but in every unresolved middle.

Reflection: Consider the quilter’s table, scattered with fabric pieces yet to be sewn. To our eyes, it might appear chaotic – loose threads, mismatched patterns, incomplete sections. Yet in the quilter’s mind, a masterpiece is already taking shape. Similarly, God sees the beautiful whole of our lives, even when we can only see the scattered pieces.

Scripture for Meditation: “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” – Philippians 1:6

For Your Prayer Time: Take a moment to hold before God the unfinished parts of your story:

  • What situations in your life feel incomplete?
  • Where do you long for resolution?
  • How might God be working in these unresolved spaces?

A Prayer for Today: Lord Jesus, Alpha and Omega, You who hold both the beginning and the end, I bring before you my unfinished stories. Help me trust that you are working Even in the scattered pieces, Even in the unclear middle, Even in the waiting. Grant me peace in the unresolved spaces, And faith to see your hand at work In every chapter of my story. Amen.

Today’s Practice: As you go through your day, notice the unfinished aspects of your life. Instead of seeing them as problems to be solved, try viewing them as spaces where God is still actively working. When feelings of incompleteness arise, whisper this simple prayer: “Jesus, I trust you with my unfinished story.”

Words of Hope: Remember that even in Scripture, Jesus left some stories unfinished – the older brother in the prodigal son parable, the rich young ruler, the nine lepers who didn’t return. Perhaps these open endings invite us to see our own unfinished stories not as failures, but as spaces where grace is still at work.

In Christ’s loving hands, nothing is wasted – not the waiting, not the uncertainty, not the incomplete chapters. Trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it, in His perfect time and way.
